Fringed Flower Wreath

Are you ready? Here it is!
I have finally finished my fringed flower wreath. I know, it took long enough. I had everything I needed to finish this except for pink ribbon! I live 1/2 hour to the closest craft store. I settled for Wally world instead. I layered the ribbon since the color I liked wasn't wide enough and the color I wasn't too keen on was just wide enough! I think it turned out great.

Here are the supplies needed and instructions. I hope you enjoy and make one of your own! I'd love some feedback and/or pictures!

Supplies needed:
2 flange collars. Yes I never heard of them either. I found them at Lowes in the plumbing area. They are black and look like ceiling medallions with a larger hole. I bought 2 decreasing sizes. 10" and 8"

Rust-oleum Painter Touch paint in gloss black and gloss white

E-6000 adhesive (Michaels)

Also needed- Green Crepe paper roll, and pink ribbon about 2" wide. (Wal-Mart)

And lots of fringed flower! You can find the tutorial here.

First you'll want to spray paint your flange collars white.

When all finished painting white, let dry. (I know it's hard for me too)

see the speckles of black?

Then take your black spray paint and just spritz the pieces. You only want a speckle effect.
You can also do this with a brush and black acrylic paint. Just lightly dip the paint brush in to the black paint  and then using your fingers run them along the brush and let the bristles flip and spatter paint onto the pieces.
I happen to have spray paint and it's much cleaner, but have done the splatter method as well and it works fine, just messy.

Once the pieces were dry again, I layered them to see which would look best. Big on top or small? I went with the small one on top.

Using the adhesive, I applied a bead of glue around the back edge of the small flange collar and positioned it on top of the big one. You can see the bead of glue squishing out?

Just wipe that glue off with a rag so it's nice and clean. Do it lightly, as the adhesive will sometimes wipe some paint off. It's a chemistry thing I don't understand.

I know there are no speckles on mine. I actually did that after the fact and realized it looked nice so I told you to do it at the same time as painting the white. I document as I go! Sorry :)

The finished wreath with speckles. Now, this would look great just simply tied with a bow, or you can doll it up with the fringed flowers like me.

I took the flowers and glued them randomly onto the wreath with the same adhesive. I only did half the wreath so that when I hang it it will have some pretty flange collar  wreath base showing.

Next I cut leaves from green crepe paper.

I took these and hot glued them randomly between flowers where there were gaps.

Then I wanted a little banner to go across the bottom of the wreath. Being a Beatles fan the saying I wanted came to me right away! All you need is Love!

I printed this out on my printed and then cut the text into a banner shape. Yes, I know programs will skew that for you so it looks cool. I'm creative, not technical, so this is what I did :)

Now came the time to put ribbon on it to hang. I live 1/2 hour from a craft store. Big sigh, listen to crickets and say it's okay. I went to Wal-Mart because I knew it would be March before this wreath got finished if I waited till I had time to drive across town to Michaels or AC Moore. The color pink I loved was not too wide, but they had another pink (not my favorite) that was wider. I'm picky about color. I want everything to match just right. So to mask that the wider ribbon was off a shade I layered the 2 colors and it looked good. I think this layered affect also added to the over all affect of the wreath.

Ribbon-one the right color, one the right size? What to do?

Layered gave a softer look to the brighter colored ribbon and made for a pleasant look.

I simply knotted the two ends and hung this on a nail above the door. I let the ends flop freely and think it turned out great. Now we have a wreath that will carry us through the month.

I'd love to hear from you and see if anyone attempted to make one of these. Pictures would be great also!

Until next time Dear Reader,
