Be still my heart.

I was just itching to make some items for Valentine's Day. I know...we are nowhere close to that yet, but I couldn't help it! I had some left over card stock from the fringed flower (see last blog). I wanted to make something for over the fireplace because it seems so bare at the moment.

I just love the way it turned out. I took the left over pieces of red and pink card stock and cut them into 1" pieces. The length is whatever you want, my red ones were 7 3/8" only because that's how long the red paper left was. I made the pink strips 2" shorter and the book page ones 2" smaller. I have an old book from the thrift store bought for a buck with old music in it. I used a couple of these pages for the inner hearts. You can use magazine or newspaper even.

Here's a close up of the hearts hot glue and all! I cleaned them up prior to hanging them. First I folded all the strips in half. Then I matched up sets of three strips one in each color. The red on the outside I took and matched up the ends on one side and hot glued between layers just on the edge. I then went to the other end of the strips and hot glued those three together. You now have a layered "V". Well, kind of. Then you take the two layered ends and fold them in to the center to make a heart shape and glue the 2 sets of ends together.  I then ran a strip of hot glue down the top crease and put some pom pom string I had left from decorating another time. You could use ribbon, twine, seam binding? Very easy!

They can be used in so many ways. I made a garland but you could make a layered wreath. See how Swedish this looks?

Here's some close ups of the garland.

This whole project cost less than $2 if you make it with bought supplies. I made mine from scraps. I spend 2 hours tops on this. It's a great project for kids to help as well. My husband even sat down and helped with this one :)

Hope you enjoyed!

Until Next time Dear Reader,

I am sharing this project on Aderberry Hill here
